The Petrona Award

The Petrona Award for the Best Scandinavian Crime Novel of the Year

Maxine Clarke who blogged and reviewed as Petrona was an expert on and champion of Scandinavian crime fiction with its mix of good plotting, strong characterisation and inclusion of social issues. To honour her memory, a new annual award for the best Scandinavian crime novel (translated into English), the Petrona, has been set up.

The shortlist for the 2013 award, which is based on Maxine’s reviews and ratings is as follows:

  2. This is a wonderful idea. I wholeheartedly support it and know it will be given to worthy authors for excellent books. Maxine Clarke raised the bar on all crime fiction, including that from the Nordic regions. This award, in her memory, is so appropriate.
